Why do I have to register as a student organization?
Registration allows student organizations to enjoy basic privileges granted by the institution when the organization meets minimum standards for registered status.
What privileges do registered student organizations enjoy?
Standard privileges granted to all student organizations completing the registration process include:
- Use of University facilities including Ferguson Center meeting rooms (free of charge or at a discounted rate)
- Sponsorship of events, on-campus solicitation, and fundraising activities
- Organization mailbox services (on-campus mail only)
- Eligibility to apply for student activity funds in accordance with University procedures and regulations
- Limited computer privileges determined by User Services
- Eligibility to obtain a student organization E-mail and Website accounts through the Seebeck Computer Center
- Opportunity to participate in “Get On Board Day”
- Inclusion in the Student Organization Directory
- Access to consultation with Office of Student Development professional staff on organizational issues (i.e., conflict resolution, retreats, officer transition, etc.)
- Free advertising of program/activities in the Ferguson Center
- Free use of display cases in the Ferguson Center
How do I upload my constitution?
If you have access to an electronic copy of your constitution you can upload it in a .doc or .pdf format along with the rest of your information. If not, please contact the Office of Student Development in 230 Ferguson Center.
Are there any documents I need to submit in person?
Yes. The Hazing Policy needs to be signed and turned in to the Office of the Dean of Students. The form is available for print when you register.
Why do I need to register now?
In order to reserve a table at Fall Get On Board Day, which occurs during the second week of the school year, it is important to register early.
What do I do if I have not had elections yet?
Go ahead and register. Include the information for the current officers. When you do have elections you can access the online site to change the information. Again, it is important to register now so that you can participate in Get On Board Day.
After I finish completing the form, what happens next?
An email will be sent to all the officers and advisor(s) to verify their position. After everyone has verified his/her position, your hazing policy has been received, and your constituion has been processed the president and advisor will receive an email stating that the student organization has been registered.
Do I have to complete the Interest Group Verification if my student organization already exists?
Yes. List 10 members of your student organization. They will all be emailed to verify their membership.
